Hi! My name is Mrs. Dorholt and I am SO excited to be your third grade teacher! It’s going to be a great year full of lots of learning and new adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me.
I was raised in Grand Rapids. I am the middle child of five. I have two sisters and two brothers. My mom is still alive. She is 81 years young. We celebrated her 80th birthday in Belize. My father died many years ago. When I graduated from high school I went to college at ICC and Bemidji State University. I also completed more classes at Hamline University for my Master’s Degree in education. I love going to school. I also love to travel, go to movies, read books, exercise, and spend time with family and friends.
I was hired in Deer River in 1983...which was a long time ago...almost 30 years ago. I taught at our North School for four years before moving to King Elementary. I have been a first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade teacher. My favorite grade to teach is third!
I am married to a wonderful man, Timothy, who is a retired investigator for the Grand Rapids Police Department. He loves to fish and hunt. He is a professional fishing guide on area lakes. We have been married for 29 years. We have one amazing daughter, Randi. Randi completed and passed her Licensed Practical Nursing Certification this past May. She is now pursuing a registered nursing degree at NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota. She also likes to hunt and fish in her spare time.
Fishing has always been a part of my family's life, but after swimming with sharks, manatees, sea turtles, barracudas, and every color of fish you can imagine...I am O-fish-ally hooked!
